Facilitation

Facilitation is the act of engaging and guiding stakeholders through discussions, learning activities, and processes. A facilitator serves as a neutral party who can help groups work together more constructively. The MELI Unit offers facilitation services to ECA offices in order to support more efficient, effective, and results-oriented decision-making. Facilitation is helpful for:

  • Developing office or bureau-wide strategies
  • Identifying creative solutions to tough, nebulous challenges
  • Encouraging broad participation and building buy-in
  • Working on a sensitive issue where a neutral party would add value
  • Synthesizing complex or multifaceted information
  • Translating performance monitoring or evaluation data into learning
    • The MELI Unit provides a range of facilitation support levels and types, tailored to the requesting team’s goals, timeline, desired outputs, and stakeholders involved. This includes one-off facilitation, multi-meeting support, and/or continuous engagement.
