In partnership with ECA’s Cultural Programs Division and the University of Iowa, the implementor of the International Writing Program (IWP), the Collaboratory supported the Lines & Spaces Creative Writing Workshops in Eritrea.
Through the Virtual Communities Connect initiative, the ECA Collaboratory funded a series of pilot projects that allowed U.S. Embassies around the world to develop meaningful virtual programming with American communities and institutions that help advance American foreign policy goals.
On January 19, 2017 the U.S. Department of State’s Advisory Committee for the Strategic Dialogue with Civil Society offered the Open Licensing Playbook to the State Department. The Playbook is a tool for federal agencies interested in developing grant-supported open licensing projects.
In 2015, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Collaboratory launched and ran three open education pilots as part of our commitment to the second U.S. Open Government National Action Plan. One year in, the Collaboratory examined all three pilots and shared lessons learned from these programs.
Twenty undergraduate students at American University’s School of International Service designed and piloted their own virtual exchanges with students from Brazil, the Czech Republic, India, Japan, Kenya and Morocco.
