The Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas (WEAmericas) initiative and exchange elevates the economic status of women throughout the Western Hemisphere. WEAmericas was founded in the 2012 Summit of the Americas and brings women entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean to the United States on an International Visitor Leadership Program.
Five years after his first International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) experience, Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou will return to the United States as a “Gold Star” IVLP alumnus.
On April 17, the U.S. Department of State will host more than 100 international law enforcement, security, judicial, and NGO officials for the third annual Towards a More Safe and Secure World initiative. Participants of this annual International Visitor Leadership Program initiative spend three weeks cooperating with their U.S. counterparts to find solutions to shared global security responsibilities.
Every semester, “P2P: Challenging Extremism” competition finalists from around the world are invited on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to meet with American business and community leaders. This semester’s finalists, who arrived from Belgium, Italy, and Lebanon, traveled to New York City and San Francisco after presenting in Washington, D.C.
The two-day conference focused on the principal issues facing our ocean, namely marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution, and climate-related impacts on the ocean.
